Hello everyone, and welcome to Horsin’ Around!

Horsin' Around a monthly article that brings you the latest news in and around the dA Equine Community! Horsin' Around began with MichelleWalker, who passed it into my hands. As Michelle always said: I’d be grateful if you could give me feedback on what you think of it, and if you have any suggestions for future issues, I’d love to hear them. If you think that someone you devWatch deserves a feature, let me know and I’ll try and feature them here! I hope you enjoy this issue, and thanks for reading!

:phonecall: An Interview With...
Every issue of H.A, I will be interviewing one of your favorite equine artists! This issue, it is :icondoodleberrys: Sarah is an artist who really captures the beauty of equines in a natural environment. Her works look like soft watercolor paintings!

Get off by DoodleBerrys  Equine Oasis - Commission by DoodleBerrys  Away from it all by DoodleBerrys

:bulletyellow: Hello and thank you for joining us! Could you tell us a little about yourself?
Hello, My name is Sarah, I love artwork and drawing, it was my favorite subject at school and I went on to completing a 3 year Graphic Design course :)

:bulletblue: Cool. How long have you been creating Equine artwork for?
I got into drawing horses about 3-4 years back.

:bulletyellow: How did you learn to create your artwork? Were you self-taught, or did you learn through a course at school?
Both I guess, we did art at school and me being a nerd went to an art club afterwards every Thursday, then when school finished I did my A-levels in double award Fine art and Design after that another 3 years of Graphic Design.
I use some of the fine tutorials on DeviantArt to help me with things I want to try like animation or a different shading style ^^

:bulletblue: Interesting. Can you share with us what your very favorite piece in your gallery is?
Probably a piece I did for a friend called 'Lumi's Haflinger' because I got the chance to try some new techniques and really have some fun with it.
Lumi's Haflinger by DoodleBerrys

:bulletpink: Looks amazing!  Do you have an OC (original character)? Can you tell us a little about him/her?
My very first Equine Horse character was Pulse and she's still my favorite of them all, she's a breed of my own creation called Nuclear Draft, came into existence while being born from normal horses that were exposed to nuclear fall out, I think I connect with her the most because she's just a strange character and I live near a nuclear power plant ^^
Pulse Ref 2011 by DoodleBerrys

:bulletyellow: Awesome! Do you have any tutorials or tips to share with budding artists?
Hells yeah! I love giving back to the DA community in what ways I can and I have recently created 3 new tutorials from using the grid system to colouring and cell shading, I have the static versions on DA and also some videos on my YouTube Channel Here are some links:
Step 1. Lineart Tutorial by DoodleBerrys Step 2. Colouring by DoodleBerrys Step 3. Cell Shading Tutorial by DoodleBerrys The videos are linked on the comments ^^

:bulletblue:  And how long (on average) does it take you to make a finished piece?
Depends on the amount of detail I put into the image and what kind of shading I do but on an average piece it's usually 6-7hrs worth of work.

:bulletpink: Where do you get your inspiration from?
The characters usually give me inspiration to draw & of course all of the fantastic artists on deviant art!!

:bulletyellow: That's interesting. Is there any particular medium you would like to try?
Try? Nah, I've pretty much settled on Digital art as I couldn't live without my back button anymore ^^

:bulletblue:  Thank you for your time. Any last pieces of advice you can give to your fellow equine artists?
Just to keep doing what you love :D

Great journal! You've definitely given me some new artists to follow. It's so nice of you to put all this information together for the Equine Community. Looking forward to the November issue! :aww:
